John 3rd May 2014

Eulogy by Son John I thought there would always be a day of deep reckoning Or maybe just a simple good-bye But I’ll take the thoughts between the lines or a smile on his face That showed his deepest feelings He was the rock for the whole family Though through the years the toughest outsides Had washed away He held us up ‘till we all found our way Or at least didn’t stand in the way Sometimes he would beg to hear affection I know he’s listening So let’s all join in his refrain, “Dear old Dad, the Robin sings: Because it’s his voice I remember most clearly The best PR guy and the best math teacher the city of Holyoke ever had They will certainly miss John M. Foley Or at least lift a toast down at Clancies Sometimes I’m sad when I have a happy memory Other times I feel extra strong like Dad is cheering from afar I’ll take them both if it lets me Keep him in my heart Though I work through tears and fears of public speaking Today I must put them aside To fully honor this end and new beginning
